On 19/12/2023, an amendment/addition to the draft law of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security entitled “Reform of occupational insurance, rationalization of insurance legislation, pension arrangements, system of appointment and recruitment of teachers of the public employment service and other provisions” was voted under the title ” Arrangements of matters of competence of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum” by the Greek Parliament, which concerns those who have entered our country illegally, but who have nevertheless been living and working here for a number of years.
Specifically, the new regulation provides the possibility of granting a residence permit for dependent work and the provision of services or work to citizens of third countries who:
- they have a job offer from an employer in Greece for their employment under the status of dependent work and services or project and, proven subsequently work,
- resided in Greece until November 30, 2023,
- ⦁ continue to reside in the country,
- completeat least three (3) continuous years of residence before applying, according to public documents of a certain date,
- possess a passport, even if it has expired, and
- there are no public order reasons for them.
The residence permit is granted once, it is valid for three (3) years and upon its expiry the holder may request a change of residence permit category in accordance with article 12 of v. 5038/2023.
